This project raises the question of what art means to the public by decontextualizing a mosaic NYC subway directional sign reading “Museum.” Multiple iterations of Museum (in Black) are given to exhibition curators and organizers; it is up to them to decide upon the space for each piece, in order to lead the audience in a direction in which they can freely identify art along the way. By following the direction of the museum sign, people are invited to imagine, interpret, and locate art and places of art as they venture on.
